What is Individual Career Opportunities in Nursing?
Individual Career Opportunities in Nursing, more commonly known as Nurse iCON, is Michigan’s only state specific website that connects licensed practical nurses, registered nurses and nurse practitioners with healthcare employers and communities.
Nurse iCON, launched in 2002, is a program of the Michigan Health Council (MHC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization which was created by the Michigan State Medical Society, the Michigan Health & Hospital Association and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.
For over 60 years, the MHC’s mission has been to provide better access to healthcare services throughout the state by promoting current health workforce and the promotion of future healthcare professionals.
How does Nurse iCON work with Healthcare Employers?
Nurse iCON is not a staffing or travel nursing site. Nurse iCON provides Michigan healthcare employers (health systems, individual hospitals, long term care, home health care, hospice and group practices) the opportunity to become a Nurse iCON member employer and gain the ability to post unlimited positions and search the database of nurses that have expressed an interest in Michigan. How does Nurse iCON work with Licensed Practical Nurses, Registered Nurses and Nurse Practitioners?
Nurse iCON provides licensed practical nurses, registered nurses (including nursing students!) and nurse practitioners the FREE ability to register on the site, submit their resume and search positions with Nurse iCON member employers. Nurses can make their information viewable to Nurse iCON member employers or be on the site confidentially. Nurse iCON does not sell or disclose nurses’ entrusted information. How is Nurse iCON funded?
Nurse iCON was initially funded by a grant received through the State of Michigan. Today, Nurse iCON is a self-sustaining program of the MHC supported by its member employers – healthcare organizations throughout the great lake state! There is never a charge to the candidate.
